LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — A southern New Mexico county commissioner is facing calls to resign amid sexual misconduct allegations.
The Las Cruces Sun-News reports most of the state's congressional delegation has called on Dona Ana County Commissioner John Vasquez to step down.
Reps. Michelle Lujan Grisham and Ben Ray Lujan and Sens. Tom Udall and Sen. Martin Heinrich all have signed a letter demanding that he resign.
The move comes after Democratic Party Vice Chair Neomi Martinez-Parra wrote a letter this week that alleged she had been the target of "Vasquez's inappropriate sexual misconduct."
Vasquez also has faced criticism for Facebook posts directed at a female community activist.
Vasquez has denied the sexual misconduct allegations.
