COMPTON, Calif. (AP) _ A six-month undercover investigation in Compton led to 184 arrests and the seizure of several drug types, including of tens of thousands of tablets used in making methamphetamine, authorities said.

From Feb. 9 to July 30, authorities confiscated 35,000 pseudoephedrine tablets, 25 pounds of methamphetamine, 41 1/2 pounds of marijuana, more than 4 pounds of heroin and nearly 7 pounds of cocaine, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said. Also confiscated were six vehicles, 22 firearms and more than $87,000.

The probe was conducted by a joint task force that also included the U.S. attorney's office, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents and the county district attorney's office.

The 23-member law enforcement team that led the investigation was established in 1995 to aid local agencies without the staff or money to stop complex drug operations.
