BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) _ Ray Burris scored 29 points Saturday night to lead Bakersfield State to a 78-68 victory over Alaska-Anchorage in the championship game of the NCAA Division II West Regional.

Fred Eckles added 19 points and Beau Redstone had nine points and 11 rebounds for Bakersfield State, the top seed in the regional. Alaska-Anchorage was seeded second.

The Roadrunners (24-7) will join seven other teams in the NCAA Division II national quarterfinals Thursday night at Springfield, Mass. The semifinals will be played Friday night and the championship game Saturday night.

Jackie Johnson led Alaska-Anchorage (19-11) with 18 points. Mark Lenoir added 13 points and Jeff Jones and Tom Greenfield had 10 each for the Seawolves.

Bakersfield won despite making only 24 of its 56 field goal attempts (42.9 percent) while Alaska-Anchorage made 27 of its 54 shots (50 percent). However, the Roadrunners were 27 of 36 from the free throw line while the Seawolves made just 11 of 18.

Burris made 11 of 16 shots and added seven of eight from the free throw line.

Alaska-Anchorage committed 22 turnovers to 11 for Bakersfield, which led 33-31 at halftime.

Earlier Saturday night, Ray Rodriguez scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead UC Riverside to a 90-82 victory over Chico State in the West Region's consolation game.
