BANYOLES, Spain (AP) _ Italy won three gold medals at the World Rowing Championships on Sunday.

Italy dominated the men's coxed pairs, coxed fours and lightweight quadruple sculls.

Germany captured the men's and women's lightweight single sculls, and France won the men's lightweight eight and the women's coxless four categories.

More than 1,000 rowers from 54 nations took part in the championships staged at a venue used for the 1992 Olympic Games.
