BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) — A 20-year-old Bridgewater State University student has pleaded not guilty to assault and disorderly conduct charges after police said he pushed a woman off a garage during a rowdy backyard party.
Alexander Marquez of West Springfield was arraigned Monday in Brockton District Court. Bail was set at $5,000.
Prosecutors said Bridgewater police patrolling the area on Sunday just after midnight noticed about 200 people outside a house on Burrill Avenue. The officers saw a woman dancing on the roof of a detached two-car garage, about 10 feet off the ground, while people yelled at her to jump.
Police said a man climbed on the roof and pushed the woman off before jumping himself. He was immediately arrested.
Police couldn't immediately find the woman. She later came forward and declined medical treatment for scrapes and bruises.
