Woman pleads guilty to role in table leg slaying

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts woman has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of a man who was beaten with a table leg.
The Republican newspaper reports that 55-year-old Ivey Johnson pleaded guilty this week in the June 2016 beating death of 52-year-old Eric Stephenson, who suffered a severe head injury.
The Springfield woman was sentenced to two years in jail, all of which she has already served awaiting trial.
Although Johnson did not participate in the beating, she was charged as a joint venturer with her husband, Richard Page. He pleaded guilty in November to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to up to 12 years in prison.
Authorities say the defendants and victim lived in the same rooming house and had been involved in an argument before the beating.
