New NY company makes flour from grains leftover from brewing

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York City company recently founded by a group of New York University graduate students says it is using grains leftover from beer brewing to make flour.
The company Rise says the flour made through the company's process is "super flour" — higher in protein and fiber than regular flour. WABC-TV reports the process is called "upcycling" and uses food products that would typically be tossed in a landfill.
The company says every batch of flour is sourced from grain leftovers from craft breweries in New York City. The company says its goal is to reduce operational costs for business partners and to help them become zero waste businesses.
