ATLANTA (AP) _ Baseball writers Bob Hunter and Ray Kelly were named Wednesday as the recipients of the J.G. Taylor Spink Award for meritorious service.

Hunter has been a reporter for the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner and LA Daily News for more than 50 years.

Kelly was given the award posthumously. He worked for the Philadelphia Bulletin.

The awards will be presented at the Hall of Fame induction ceremonies next July in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Spink award winners include Jim Murray, Dick Young and Red Smith.

J.G. Taylor Spink was the publisher of the Sporting News from 1914-1962.
