Ex-Mass. Parole Board members sues over dismissal
Jul. 24, 2013
SALEM, Mass. (AP) — A former member of the state Parole Board has filed suit against Gov. Deval Patrick and his former chief of staff, saying she was improperly forced out of her job in a highly publicized housecleaning weeks after a parolee killed a Woburn police officer.
Pamela Lombardini of Salem voted in 2008 to release Dominic Cinelli (sin-ELL'-ee), the man who went on to fatally shoot Officer John Maguire in December 2010. Cinelli also died in the shootout with police.
The Salem News (http://bit.ly/16Z8jMY ) reports that the lawsuit alleges board members were threatened even though an investigation found they had done nothing wrong in granting Cinelli parole.
The suit seeks $350,000 in damages as well as an additional unspecified amount for wrongful termination and violation of civil rights.
The governor's office refused comment.
