PELHAM, N.H. (AP) — Eight boy scouts in one New Hampshire troop have attained the rank of Eagle.

The members of Pelham's Troop 610 received their badges last month.

The Eagle-Tribune reports Scoutmaster Rodney Thompson says the latest crop "blew away" the troop's previous record of five Eagle scouts at once.

Scouts must progress through five other ranks, which require a mastery of knot-tying, caping, cooking, hiking, first aid and map reading, as well as leadership experience. They must complete at least 21 merit badges and a community service project.

The scouts made improvements to Raymond Park; enhanced the outdoor classroom at Pelham Elementary School; repaired the bus stop at Hobbs Community Center; built a picnic area at Muldoon Park; made contributions to the Pelham Animal Control Department; and coordinated donations to homeless veterans.
