Soviet Pianist Said To Apply For Asylum In West Germany
Jun. 17, 1988
BONN, West Germany (AP) _ A Soviet Embassy spokesman said pianist Stanislaw Bunin has asked for political asylum in West Germany.
However, West German officials said only that the Soviet pianist had been granted an extension of his temporary residency permit.
''We had a call from the (West German) Foreign Ministry informing us that Bunin has applied for asylum here,'' Soviet Embassy spokesman Andre Serjogin said Thursday in Bonn.
But spokesmen for the West German Foreign and Interior ministries said they had no information about the matter.
Bunin came to West Germany on a concert tour.
