Van Exel, McDyess Still Hurting
Mar. 08, 2001
DENVER (AP) _ Denver Nuggets point guard Nick Van Exel will miss Friday night's game at Sacramento and All-Star forward Antonio McDyess is questionable as he recovers from a partially dislocated kneecap.
Van Exel, who has a bruised left knee and tendinitis in his right knee, did not practice Thursday and McDyess was limited to non-contact drills. Both sat out Tuesday night's 11-point home loss to the Phoenix Suns.
``I've never really had tendinitis before, so I've never known how it felt,'' said Van Exel, who hopes to return Monday at Golden State. ``When I try to push off or jump and shoot, that's when it really bothers me.''
McDyess, averaging 21.3 points and 12.2 rebounds, has missed two games since injuring his kneecap last Saturday.
With Van Exel ailing, the Nuggets activated Anthony Goldwire from the injured list. Swingman Calbert Cheaney (strained left calf) was placed on the injured list for the fourth time this season.
