TORONTO (AP) _ Infielder Chris Woodward and outfielder Chad Mottola were brought up from the minor leagues Tuesday by the Toronto Blue Jays, who designated infielder Kevin Witt for the assignment.

Woodward, who was recalled from Syracuse of the International League, hit .184 with three homers and 14 RBIs in 32 games earlier this season with the Jays.

Mottola, whose contract was purchased from Syracuse, was the International League's MVP this season after hitting .309 with a league-leading 33 homers and 102 RBIs, second in the IL.

Witt hit .247 with 26 homers and 72 RBIs for Syracuse.
