COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ Chris Carrieri scored with two minutes remaining in regulation to lift the Colorado Rapids to a 1-1 tie with the Columbus Crew Saturday night.

Seconds before the tying score, Rapids goalkeeper Scott Garlick made a spectacular goal-line save on John Wilmar Perez that would have made it 2-0.

Immediately after Garlick's stop, rookie defender Chris Leitch misplayed a long ball to Colorado forward Chris Henderson, who sent an open cross to Carrieri.

Carrieri's shot caromed of defender Brian Dunseth and bounced into the goal for his seventh of the season.

Colorado (8-9-2), which had lost six of eight, snapped a two-game skid. The Crew (6-8-4) have one win in six games and are 3-1-3 in their last seven home games.

Dante Washington scored his fifth goal of the season _ knocking home a loose ball after Perez's corner kick in the 28th minute.

Garlick made the initial save on a header by Brian McBride, but Colorado couldn't clear after several point-blank chances.

McBride, a forward for the U.S. national team, had his four-game (4 goals, 2 assists) scoring streak snapped.
