CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) _ Eight different Wofford runners combined for 340 yards on the ground to lead the Terriers to a 31-23 win over Charleston Souther on Saturday.
Lomar Foster carried 10 times for 78 yards to lead the wishbone attack for Wofford (3-7). Quarterback Brad Smothers had 67 yards and two rushing touchdowns and he added a one-yard touchdown pass with 1:01 left that sealed the win.
Charleston Southern (1-10) lost its sixth straight game as the Buccaneers finished with a total of -27 yards rushing and had only 155 yards of total offense.
The Buccaneers led at the half 15-13. Quarterback Ruben Potts threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Wallins in the first quarter and fullback Chris Price ran in from the 1-yard-line in the second.
Wofford scored three times in the third-quarter, including a nine-yard touchdown run by halfback Robbie Woelfl, a field goal from Church Powers and a blocked punt that rolled out of the end zone for a safety.
Charleston Southern scored with 18 seconds left on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Potts to Shannon Rice, but Smothers recovered the onside kick to end any hopes of a comeback.
