Homes Evacuated on Marine's Threats
Jul. 05, 2006
LOVELAND, Colo. (AP) _ Police evacuated several homes and called in negotiators after a 19-year-old Marine armed with a rifle took up a position in a cul-de-sac and threatened to kill himself Wednesday.
Police Sgt. Rae Bontz said the man had not threatened to hurt anyone else.
Police negotiators got a phone to him and were trying to persuade him to surrender, Bontz said.
Bontz said he does not know what type of rifle the man was carrying or whether it was a military weapon. The Marine's identity was not released.
