HOLMDEL, N.J. (AP) — Prosecutors say the shooting deaths of a New Jersey couple killed inside their recently purchased luxury home was a murder-suicide.
But a motive for the shootings remains under investigation.
Holmdel police found 52-year-old Arshad Zarak and his 42-year-old wife, Asma Hussain, when they responded to the home Thursday after a teenage boy called 911. Authorities haven't said if the boy was related to the couple.
Monmouth County prosecutors say it appears Hussain shot Zarak, was found lying in his bed with two gunshot wounds to the head. Hussain was found lying face down on the bedroom floor with a gun in her hand.
An autopsy determined Hussain died of a single gunshot wound to her head.
The couple had signed the deed for the $1.6 million home on July 21.
