BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Police in Billings say an 18-year-old man has been shot in an early morning incident on the city's south side.

Lt. Shawn Mayo says officers received a report of gunfire in a residential area just after 2:30 a.m. Friday. A second caller reported a man had been shot.

Mayo says the teenager was found at the scene with at least two gunshot wounds. Police determined the shooting occurred behind a nearby residence where shell casings were found.

The wounded man was treated for his injuries and taken to a hospital.

No suspect has been named, but Lt. Brandon Wooley says investigators do not believe it was a random shooting.

Wooley says officers were able to interview the victim but declined to give any details.
