Wildcatters Cancel Season After Hurricane
Oct. 06, 2005
BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) _ The Texas Wildcatters canceled their season Thursday after Jefferson County commissioners notified the minor league hockey team that Ford Arena is needed for hurricane recovery efforts.
Wildcatters' managing partner Rick Adams said the team will immediately begin preparing for the 2006-07 season. The ECHL said the league playing rights of all current Wildcatters will revert to the team next year, regardless of where they play this season.
``On behalf of the Wildcatters organization, our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Gulf Coast region in the aftermath of this devastating hurricane,'' Adams said. ``We are extremely disappointed that all of the hard work and effort both on and off the ice in preparation for this season has been lost.''
