COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ A 4-year-old girl was hit in the head by a puck at an Ohio State hockey game and taken to a hospital for stitches, officials said.

The girl was injured Saturday night, treated at a hospital and released, a nursing supervisor said Sunday. She didn't have details of the injury.

Ohio State lost to Ferris State 1-0 in overtime in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association playoff game.

Three years ago, 13-year-old Brittanie Cecil died after being hit in the head by a puck while watching a Columbus Blue Jackets game.

Her death led the NHL to require safety nets in its arenas. The league and other defendants also settled a lawsuit with the girl's family for $1.2 million.

Safety nets aren't required in college arenas.

A message seeking comment was left Sunday for Ohio State associate athletic director Richelle Simonson.
