CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — A man who shot and killed a longtime acquaintance during an argument on a Camden street has been sentenced to 65 years in prison.

Camden County prosecutors say Jerry Reyes must serve 56 years before he becomes eligible for parole under the sentence imposed Monday. The 31-year-old Camden man was convicted last month of murder and weapons charges in the March 2016 slaying of Camden resident Luis Feliu.

Authorities say the 28-year-old Feliu was arguing with Reyes when Reyes pulled out a gun and shot him multiple times as Feliu retreated from him. Reyes fled the scene but was arrested four days later in Willingboro.

Authorities say Feliu and Reyes had been acquaintances since high school.
