The average price is three cents above the national average of $2.53. It's also 33 cents higher than the price in Rhode Island was a year ago at this time, when it sold for $2.23 per gallon.
AAA found self-serve, regular gasoline selling for as low as $2.39 per gallon and as high as $2.69 in Rhode Island.
AAA says gas prices will make their spring hike in early April.
