FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) _ A tank erupted in flames Monday during gunnery exercises at Fort Hood's Brookhaven Range, killing two Army soldiers and injuring nine others.
Investigators still were trying to determine what caused the fire, post spokesman Cecil Green said.
The injured soldiers were treated for smoke inhalation and mild to moderate burns. All but two had been released from a hospital by Monday evening.
In May, a similar tank fire at Fort Hood killed one soldier and injured eight others from the 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment of Fort Hood's 1st Cavalry Division. That fire was blamed on a wiring problem in tank's air filtration system.
