MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — The Vermont Board of Education will host a series of meetings with schools across the state concerning a district merger plan.

Vermont Public Radio reports the board will hold three meetings to discuss Secretary of Education Heather Bouchey's consolidation plan for districts that didn't merge under Act 46. Northern districts will meet in Newark on July 18. Central districts will gather at the Statehouse on Aug. 15 and southern Districts will meet Sept. 19 in Chester.

District representatives will receive 20 minutes to explain their position. Half of the period will be used to answer questions from the board.

Districts are also required to provide written responses that include "specific data and references to the requirements of Act 46."
