MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina authorities say the deaths of a pregnant woman and her infant daughter are being investigated again.
Sheriff Duane Lewis tells news outlets 26-year-old Kadie Major and River Lynn died in 2008. He said at a news conference Thursday the probe over them is reopened and considered a death investigation. He didn't call it a homicide investigation.
Authorities ruled Major's death a suicide and her daughter's a drowning. She was pregnant with a boy when discovered alongside railroad tracks with injuries consistent with being struck by a train. River was found in a creek nearby. She was younger than 1.
Lewis says Major's mother and private investigators her family hired approached him with previously undisclosed information about her death. He didn't provide many details saying that they're still investigating.
