PARIS (AP) _ Air France reached an agreement with the National Union of Airline Pilots on Saturday that will stave off a four-day strike the union had called for next weekend.
The union, known by its French initials, SNPL, had threatened to press its demands for higher pay by staying off the job from Nov. 1-4, which is a holiday weekend in France and a popular time for travel.
An Air France official, who spoke on customary condition of anonymity, said the union canceled its protest after striking a deal with the company's management. No other details were released.
SNPL, the biggest union among those representing Air France pilots, organized a strike in September with five other unions, which severely disrupted domestic and international flights.
