Theater and Television Actress Katherine Hynes de Groot Has Died

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. (AP) _ Katherine Hynes de Groot, a theater and television actress who appeared in ''My Fair Lady,'' is dead at 88.
De Groot died Saturday of complications from a stroke, said her daughter, Fiona Rhodes, of Laguna Beach, Calif.
The British-born actress appeared on Broadway in ''My Fair Lady'' as Mrs. Pearce, the housekeeper. She toured with the National Company in the United States and the Soviet Union from 1956 to 1962.
She appeared in several other Broadway productions, including ''Point of No Return'' with Henry Fonda. She had roles in several TV dramas by Paddy Chayefsky, including ''The Mother'' and ''The Catered Affair.''
De Groot retired in 1976 to assist her husband, food and wine expert Roy Andries de Groot, who died in 1983.
Funeral arrangements were not announced.
