ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) _ A former super middleweight contender was charged with throwing a brick through a school bus window, hitting a 6-year-old boy in the face.
The boy was also struck by shattered glass. He was treated and released from Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Ricky Thomas was jailed without bail. He is charged with assault and misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal mischief.
Police say Thomas first threw a rock at a taxi Monday, then heaved a brick at the school bus. Police were unclear about Thomas' motive.
The 34-year-old boxer fought IBF super middleweight champion James Toney in 1993 and was stopped in the 10th round of the nontitle bout.
