MONTREAL (AP) _ Scott Thornton scored with 7:01 remaining in regulation and also had an assist as the Montreal Canadiens rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the Vancouver Canucks 2-2 on Wednesday night.
Thornton, who set up Brain Savage's 22nd goal with 39 seconds left in the second period, deflected Vladimir Malakhov's shot past goalie Arturs Irbe for the center's fifth goal of the season.
Montreal, playing without injured stars Shayne Corson and Vince Damphousse, tied it seconds after goalie Andy Moog stopped Todd Bertuzzi on a partial breakaway. Moog finished with 24 saves.
Mattias Ohlund opened the scoring at 1:31 of the first period, and Pavel Bure made it 2-0 with his 40th goal at 5:25 of the second period.
Montreal is 1-6-1 in its last eight games at home and 3-7-1 in its last 11 overall. The Canucks are 7-3-3 in their last 13 games.
