LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) _ Charisse Sampson scored 15 points and Alana Slatter and Angela Aycock chipped in 14 apiece to lead the Kansas Jayhawks past No. 25 Southwest Missouri State 65-51 Tuesday night.

It was a rematch of a first-round NCAA Tournament game last year, when Southwest Missouri State defeated Kansas 75-69.

The Lady Jayhawks went on a 12-4 run in the first five minutes of the second half to take a 42-25 lead.

Kansas (1-1) had a 30-21 halftime lead on the strength of a 12-6 run in the last 6:22 of the half. Stacy Truitt added 10 points for the Jayhawks.

Melody Howard led the Lady Bears with 17 points. The Bears (1-3) suffered from cold shooting in the second half and shot only 37 percent.

Each team had trouble with turnovers as Kansas had 23 miscues while the Bears turned the ball over 19 times. The Jayhawks' pressure defense held the Bears second-leading scorer, Secelia Winkfield, to only eight points, six below her average.
