SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) _ In a minor league trade, the Cincinnati Reds acquired shortstop Kevin Baez from the Detroit Tigers for first baseman Tim Belk on Friday.

Baez hit .274 with five homers and 54 RBIs in 112 games for Minnesota's Triple-A team in Salt Lake City. He originally was signed by the Mets and played in 63 games for New York during the 1990, 1992 and 1993 seasons.

Belk spent his six-year professional career in the Reds' organization. He played seven games for the Reds in 1996.
