'Two Fat Ladies' Star Hospitalized
Jul. 17, 1999
LONDON (AP) _ Jennifer Paterson, one of ``The Two Fat Ladies'' television cooking pair, has undergone tests for cancer and is hospitalized in London, the BBC said Saturday.
The 71-year-old chef and fellow cook Clarissa Dickson Wright have amused and enlightened audiences in many countries. They travel about the countryside in a motorcycle and sidecar to collect ingredients, and leaven their recipes with wry humor.
With her eccentric manner and fondness for smoking and high living, Miss Paterson has become one of television's most unlikely celebrities.
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London confirmed she was there and said her condition was satisfactory but gave no further details.
