Clyde Drexler will miss several games after straining his hamstring Saturday night in the Portland Trail Blazers' loss to the Washington Bullets.
The guard strained the same hamstring that forced him to miss 13 games last month, but the injury is to a different portion of the tendon, Dr. Robert Cook said Sunday. The team physician said the new problem was not a re-injury of the first hamstring strain and there's a good possibility it might not be as serious.
A decision has not been made on whether to put him on the injured list for the third time this season, but Geoff Petrie, Portland's senior vice president for operations, said there is a good possibility the Blazers will do that Tuesday. Petrie said Drexler would return either by the end of the regular season or for the playoffs. STATUS
New Jersey guard Drazen Petrovic, sidelined for two weeks with a sprained left knee, was given permission to return to practice on Wednesday.
Team physicians examined Petrovic on Monday and said his rehabilitation was excellent, said Willis Reed, the Nets executive vice president and general manager.
Petrovic, the team's leading scorer at 23.1 ppg, injured the knee in a game against Washington on March 22. He's eligible to play in Thursday's game at home against Detroit. SWITCH
The Milwaukee Bucks activited forward Orlando Woolridge on Monday and replaced him on the injured list with center Frank Brickowski.
Brickowski sprained his left ankle in a game March 24 at Los Angeles and has missed five games. Woolridge was acquired Feb. 25 from Detroit but has been out of action with a broken bone in his right hand. He was injured in a Feb. 17 game and went on the injured list March 11. SPEAKING
