3 more sentenced in Sisseton-Wahpeton embezzlement case

ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — Three more people charged in a Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate embezzlement case have been sentenced in federal court.
The American News reports Colette White on Monday was given three years of probation and fined $3,000, Gerald German Jr. three months in custody and a $5,000 fine, and Gerald Heminger Jr. three months in custody and a $2,000 fine. They also must pay a total of more than $90,000 in restitution.
Six people were accused of embezzling from the tribe's Big Coulee District. All have pleaded guilty.
Last week, suspect Carrie Godfrey was sentenced to 10 months in prison, fined $3,000 and ordered to repay $31,600. Sentencing for suspect Ann German is in October. The charge against a sixth suspect was dismissed when he pleaded guilty in another case.
