BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) _ Dinamo Bucharest and Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt were both penalized three points in the standings Thursday by Romania's soccer federation, which said they fixed their game on March 9.
Dinamo won the game 2-1. The federation ordered an investigation after media, rival clubs and even some soccer officials alleged that the match was rigged.
The federation ruled the game will count as a loss for both team. Dinamo also was fined $2,500, and three Ceahlaul players were suspended for three games each.
After Thursday's penalty, Dinamo remained in first place with 35 points, one point ahead of Bucharest rival National. Ceahlaul dropped from seventh to 11th, with 21 points.
In 2000, Ceahlaul was suspended for one year from European competitions after French referees reported they were offered prostitutes before an Intertoto Cup game between Ceahlaul and Austria Vienna.
