SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) _ A mild earthquake rocked a wide area in northern Chile on Tuesday, but there were no immediate reports of victims or damage, officials said.
The 5.1-magnitude tremor hit at 11:20 a.m. local time (11:20 a.m. EDT) the National Emergency Office said.
It was felt in some 15 cities and villages in a stretch of about 350 miles in Chile's narrow territory, the Emergency Office said.
