CARACAS, Venezuela _ An airplane carrying 24 people, including 20 European tourists, crashed Thursday in southern Venezuela, an airline spokesman said. All on board were killed, he said.
Rutaca Flight 224 crashed in the evening near the southern city of Ciudad Bolivar, said Victor Arauja, a pilot for Rutaca. The cause of the crash of the DC-3 aircraft wasn't immediately known.
There were no survivors, Arauja told The Associated Press.
The plane was carrying 20 passengers _ among them European tourists _ as well as four Venezuelan crew members, Arauja said. The identities and nationalities of the 20 passengers weren't immediately known.
The crash occurred during a flight from Canaima, in southern Bolivar state, to the northeastern city of Por La Mar, in Nueva Esparta state. The plane reportedly went down in a neighborhood, injuring two children on the ground, Arauja said.
