ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) _ Goran Ivanisevic underwent minor surgery to remove a piece of seashell that stuck in his foot while he was strolling a Florida beach.

The injury forced the former Wimbledon champion to miss last weekend's Davis Cup quarterfinals. Croatia was swept by Spain 5-0.

He had surgery on his left foot Wednesday in Zagreb, the newspaper Sportske Novosti reported. Ivanisevic has been struggling after a shoulder operation last year.

He hurt his foot while in Miami this month, Croatian media reported. Doctors initially stitched the sole but X-rays later showed a tiny sharp object lodged inside, causing persistent pain.
