Judge to decide on jury seeing video of driver's demeanor

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — A judge will rule on whether a police body-cam video showing a former Kent County prosecutor's demeanor after a crash will be shown at the man's reckless driving trial.
MLive.com reports that Kent County Circuit Judge Joseph Rossi heard arguments Friday over the video of Joshua Kuiper after the November 2016 crash. The incident already has led to the dismissal of a police officer and discipline for two others for an alleged cover-up.
Kuiper was initially charged with driving the wrong way on a one-way street after hitting a parked car. A man reaching inside the parked car was seriously injured.
Then a recording surfaced on which a police officer on the scene said he believed Kuiper was "hammered." That led to a charge of reckless driving causing serious impairment.
