DENVER (AP) _ Doug Moe, fired two months ago as coach of the Denver Nuggets, says he has found peace and happiness in everyday life and doubts he will ever return to coaching.
''I don't think I'll ever coach again,'' Moe said Thursday. ''I was around basketball for so long as a player and a coach. It was my life from the time I was a kid. It may sound strange, but I don't miss it. Of course, I can say no, no, no, but there may come a time when I do miss it, and I'll have to see what develops. But, personally, I had a good run. I'm just enjoying living.''
Moe said the only way he might return to coaching would be ''if it was one of those offers you can't refuse, and I can't think of any offers I couldn't refuse.''
ROME (AP) - Italian veteran fighter GianFranco Rosi, the IBF junior middleweight champion, unveiled a short-term engagement and a long-term dream.
Rosi, 33, announced Thursday he will put his International Boxing Federal title at stake against French challenger Rene Jacquot in the Sicilian port city of Marsala on Nov. 30.
''However my final goal is to fight Ray Leonard. If he agrees, and I am given a good purse by American matchmakers, I would like to end my career with that match,'' Rosi said.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - This weekend's Southern Conference women's volleyball tournament could be a hair-razing experience for Marshall coach Vanessa Seghers.
''I'll shave my head if we win the tournament,'' Seghers said.
Marshall is 4-21 and faces Western Carolina in the first round of the tournament at Cullowhee, N.C.
Seghers acknowledged there's little chance she'll have to shed her shoulder-length locks. A more realistic goal than winning it is just being competitive, she said.
CINCINNATI (AP) - Two rematches from the recent Goodwill Games highlight a boxing competition between the United States and Soviet Union on Nov. 10 at Riverfront Coliseum.
Larry Donald of Cincinnati faces Yevgeni Belousov for the second time. Belousov posted a narrow 3-2 decision over Donald for the gold medal in the super heavyweight division at Seattle.
Jeremy Williams of Fort Dodge, Iowa, faces Andrei Kurnyavka in the light heavyweight division. Williams was winning the semifinal bout at the Goodwill Games until Kurnyavka caught Williams with a right hand that stopped the bout at 2:01 of the third round.
