SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A man and a woman have been sentenced to prison for an attempted drug theft that ended with a 51-year-old man dead.
The Deseret News reported Tuesday that 37-year-old Brody Olson was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. He pleaded guilty to murder in September.
Tonita Holland of West Valley City pleaded guilty to manslaughter. The 39-year-old was sentenced to one to 15 years in prison.
Holland and Olson were accused of fatally shooting Melvin Dyer at an apartment complex.
According to Salt Lake police, two other people were also injured in the shooting.
Charging documents say Holland and Olson had attempted to steal phones and money from an apartment that went to buy methamphetamine before they opened fire.
