BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) _ Senior Al Snyder, stepping in for injured quarterback Glenn Kempa, passed for 313 yards and a touchdown and tailback Erick Torain scored three touchdowns Saturday as Lehigh routed Columbia 42-9.
Horace Hamm caught 10 passes for 159 yards as Lehigh boosted its record to 3-1. Columbia is winless in three games.
Snyder, making the first start of his college career, completed 22 of 31 passes without an interception and hit Kevin Costello with an 11-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.
Snyder also sneaked in from one yard out as Lehigh took a 21-0 lead in the second quarter.
Torain gained 62 yards on 20 carries, including touchdown runs of three, eight and two yards.
Columbia's only touchdown came with 40 seconds left in the first half, on a 5-yard pass from Bruce Mayhew to Greg Abbruzzese.
Tom Boccafola kicked a 43-yard field goal for Columbia, the longest of his career. Reserve quarterback Scott Semptimphelter capped Lehigh's scoring with an 11-yard pass to running back Chris Menet.
Lehigh outgained Columbia 556 yards to 340.
