LEWISTON, Maine (AP) — Federal authorities have arrested a Maine man during a raid of more than 20 properties in the Lewiston and Auburn area as part of a drug trafficking investigation.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said Tuesday they were investigating a trafficking organization that grew and distributed large quantities of marijuana under the cover of the state's medical marijuana program. The Sun-Journal reports 52-year-old Richard "Stitch" Daniels faces up to 20 years in prison under drug possession and manufacturing charges.

Daniels appeared at court in Portland Tuesday, where he indicated he wanted a lawyer who specializes in his type of case.

Federal agents say they seized more than 50 kilograms (110 pounds) of marijuana and six jars filled with butane hash oil from Daniel's residence, alongside other drugs.
