NEW YORK (AP) _ Stock prices have started higher on Wall Street.
The Dow Jones industrial average is ahead 42 points. Gainers outnumber losers by about 3-1 on the New York Stock Exchange.
The Nasdaq Composite Index is up 12 points and the Standard & Poor's 500 Stock Index has added six points.
Wall Street is continuing yesterday's late rally with early gains today.
A better-than-expected report on industrial output is helping provide a reason for buying equities.
There's also some solid earnings news from the retail sector. Target topped estimates with its second-quarter profit report.
Market averages have been mostly higher in overseas trading.
