DANVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Jurors have acquitted an Indianapolis man who was charged with killing one man and wounding another outside a nightclub in the eastern Illinois city of Danville nearly four years ago.

The Vermilion County jury's verdict came in the second trial that 34-year-old Dejuan Alexander faced for the March 2014 shooting near Club Deuce that killed Demaree Tetter. Alexander's first trial last year ended when jurors didn't reach a unanimous verdict.

The (Champaign) News-Gazette reports prosecutors told jurors Alexander on Friday was an aspiring rapper who was angry about being kicked out of the club and that nine witnesses identified him as the gunman.

Defense attorney Hallie Bezner pointed out inconsistencies in testimony about the shooter's appearance and questioned why a man who tested positive for gunpowder residue wasn't formally questioned.
