COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) _ Al Miller, who earlier this year resigned as general manager of the MISL's Cleveland Force, was named the U.S. Soccer Federation's general manager of the federation's national programs, the USSF announced Thursday.

Miller, who coached the Philadelphia Atoms to the 1973 North American Soccer League title, stepped down as general manager of the Force after serving three years in the position.

His duties with the USSF, the national governing body for soccer, will include intially overseeing the national team programs and eventually include management of the national programs concerning coaching, referring and player development.
