NEW YORK (AP) _ Ten pieces of jewelry valued at about $65,000 were taken from the hotel suite of Joanna Carson, estranged wife of ''Tonight Show'' host Johnny Carson, police said today.
Mrs. Carson put the valuables in a closet in her 17th floor rooms at the exclusive Hotel Pierre on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue, when she returned Thursday from a trip, said Sgt. Raymond O'Donnell, a police spokesman.
The jewelry - a bracelet, two rings, three pairs of earrings and four watches - was discovered missing about 9:30 p.m. Friday, police said.
O'Donnell said the room had not been ransacked and showed no signs of forced entry.
Mrs. Carson estimated the value of the stolen property at $65,000, O'Donnell said.
