COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) _ Twenty-point efforts from Marche Strickland and Deedee Warley helped to earn Maryland a 79-70 win over Richmond on Sunday in a non-conference game.
Richmond (2-5) held the lead for the opening four minutes of play until a 3-pointer by Strickland put the Terrapins ahead 12-to-10. Strickland went 2-4 from beyond the arc and racked up 10 points to pace Maryland in the first half.
The Terps (4-2) never gave up the lead again.
The Spiders' Ebony Tanner and Michele Koclanes combined for 23 second-half points and drew Richmond within three with 43 seconds remaining on a pair of free throws by Koclanes.
Tanner recorded her second double-double of the season, netting 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
