ATLANTA (AP) _ Quarterback Matt Williams scored two touchdowns despite a lackluster day passing as Hampton University defeated Clark Atlanta 13-6 Sunday in the Atlanta Labor Day Football Classic.
Williams ran over from the 2-yard line with just under four minutes to play in the first quarter, and Hampton took a 7-0 lead.
Clark Atlanta, unable to score a touchdown despite quarterback David Kennedy completing 17-of-33 passes for 183 yards, including a 55-yard bomb to Fred Lavender, wedged in two 22-yard field goals by Ty Fisher before intermission.
Williams, who completed 9-of-19 for 88 yards with one interception, rounded out the scoring with a 19-yard run at 10:47 of the third quarter.
Hampton fullback Tyrone Mayer led all rushers with 150 yards on 25 carries.
