Feb. 13, 2003
LONDON (AP) _ British discuss thrower Perriss Wilkins was banned from the sport for life Thursday after testing positive for anabolic steroids a second time.
UK Athletics, the sport's national governing body, said Wilkins tested positive for high levels of testosterone in a sample provided April 28 last year. He had previously failed a test for methandienone.
UK Athletics said the 34-year-old Wilkins had been banned following an independent disciplinary hearing.
``Given that this is the second doping offense committed by Perriss Wilkins, he is therefor now ineligible to take part in athletics events within the UK and abroad for life,'' UK Athletics said.
